Five Years of Greener Impact from ERS & Epson
Five years after launching our Tree Planting Scheme with Epson ColorWorks, we’re proud to celebrate another 400 trees taking root in the Forest of Marston Vale. As a Bedfordshire based business, the project has always been close to home for us, and each planting event helps to support local wildlife, and create a greener, healthier landscape for the communities around us.
What is the ColorWorks Tree Planting Scheme?
In a collaborative effort to drive sustainability, ERS teamed up with Epson to launch the ColorWorks Tree Planting scheme. This means that for every qualifying printer purchase one tree would be planted in the Forest of Marston Vale, on behalf of our customers.
The Impact So Far
Planting 1,376 trees across Bedfordshire over the past five years has allowed us to play a small but meaningful part in the Forest of Marston Vale’s wider regeneration work. Thanks to the additional woodland we’ve helped create, the Forest estimates that our contribution supports:
- Cleaner local air, with around 40.5 million tonnes of pollutants removed each year.
- A healthier climate, with an estimated 6,220 tonnes of CO2 absorbed annually by the expanding woodland.
- Richer biodiversity, as new woodland replaces other land uses such as agriculture, creating space for more species to thrive.
- Helping boost the local economy by supporting new jobs and creating future opportunities for sustainably sourced wood fuel.
- A more beautiful place to live, with trees adding character, colour, and a stronger sense of place.
- Quieter neighbourhoods, as growing tree cover helps soften noise pollution.
- Better physical health, contributing to an estimated £5.5 million in annual wellbeing value from active visits to the Forest.
- Improved mental health, as access to green space helps reduce depression and anxiety, easing pressure on NHS services.
These benefits reflect the Forest of Marston Vale’s long-term vision, and we’re proud that our tree planting plays even a small part in helping that vision grow.
Spotlight on the Forest of Marston Vale
The Forest of Marston Vale is more than just a planting site for us — it’s part of our everyday surroundings. Many of our team live nearby, spend time in the Forest, and enjoy the small business community that’s grown around it, so supporting this landscape feels genuinely close to home.
How Our Trees Help
The trees we’ve contributed play a small part in the Forest’s long term regeneration — creating new habitats, improving soil health, and helping the landscape bounce back for future generations.
What the Forest Team Says
Robina Ballard-Davis, Brand and Fundraising Manager at the Forest of Marston Vale team summed up the value of local support perfectly:
“Without support from local businesses, we wouldn’t be able to continue to plant trees and manage our woodlands. Having partners—like ERS and Epson—who are interested in sharing our message and physically helping to plant trees makes a real difference.”

Partnership With Purpose
Our tree planting journey has always been a team effort, and working closely with Epson ColorWorks has been a big part of that. As Epson’s ‘ColorWorks Partner of the Year’, it felt important to collaborate in a way that went beyond products — something innovative, meaningful, and rooted in shared values.
Shared Sustainability Goals
The scheme ties in perfectly with Epson’s wider sustainability commitments, and especially with the ColorWorks range. These printers are designed to help reduce wastage, and the tree planting initiative adds an extra layer by giving back to the environment where paper traditionally comes from.
When the chance came up to plant trees right here in our local community, it felt like a natural fit for both sides.
Powered By ColorWorks Customers
Every qualifying ColorWorks purchase helps keep the scheme growing — quite literally. And customers aren’t just cheering us on from the sidelines — some, like Letterbox Cocktails, join us on planting days, getting their hands dirty and helping new woodland take shape. It’s a brilliant reminder that sustainability works best when everyone contributes.
Looking Ahead
As we head into the next year, we’re excited to keep the momentum going. The scheme will continue — now with the CW-D6000 and CW-D6500 joining the qualifying ColorWorks line up, opening the door for even more customers to get involved.
We’re also exploring fresh ways to strengthen our own sustainability efforts internally. From improving our on-site recycling process to looking at new eco focused initiatives with our partners, we’re committed to making steady, meaningful progress.
The past five years have shown what’s possible when businesses, customers, and the local community work together. And we’re only just getting started.
