Opticon Launch New OPN 2001 Ultra Compact Data Collector
31 January 2007
Opticon, Japan's largest manufacturer of hand held, mobile and fixed position bar code scanners, has created the world's smallest bar code data collector.
Measuring just 62x30x16mm and weighing only 28 grams the new OPN-2001 from Opticon is the smallest bar code data collector ever produced. It's compact dimensions hide features found on much larger and more expensive devices. Fitted with Opticon's latest generation of 100 scans per second laser engine, this device performs just like a regular Opticon product – no corners have been cut.
An onboard 512K of Flash data memory ensures that thousands of codes can be stored securely. Far more than any existing keyring style memory scanner. The USB interface acts not just to communicate but to charge the built-in Li-Ion battery, thus avoiding the need to replace costly watch–type batteries.
Finally, there's an integrated real time clock to facilitate date and time stamping.
